Результати навчання: Програмні результати навчання (ПРН):
1. Ухвалювати ефективні рішення щодо журналістських питань, зокрема і стосовно багатоаспектної, неповної чи суперечливої інформації та вимог і критеріїв.
3. Збирати, аналізувати та узагальнювати матеріали з різних джерел, зокрема з наукової та фахової літератури, баз даних, та перевіряти їх на достовірність, узгоджуючи із сучасними методами дослідження.
4.Вільно спілкуватися державною та іноземними мовами усно та письмово для обговорення професійної діяльності, результатів наукової та інноваційної діяльності, пошуку та аналізу актуальної інформації.
7. Обговорювати складні питання комунікації,
пропонувати та обґрунтовувати варіанти їх вирішення, працювати з чутливими темами: висвітлення конфліктів, переговори та вирішення конфліктів, тероризм, релігійна та гендерна толерантність, діяльність у конфліктних ситуаціях на основі принципів національної інформаційної політики.

Зміст дисципліни: Topics 1. Introduction. Discussion of how English differs from Ukrainian in contemporary usage, including in the media. Topics 2. Translation, theory and practice. Discussion on translation theories and approaches. Topics 3. Photography and the visual. Discussion on the visual medium of photography. Topics 4. Media theory. Marshall McLuhan' contribution to modern media theory. Topics 5. Advertising as a medium of moving pictures. Practical assignment: presentation and interpretation of a television advertisement. Topics 6. Political Correctness in society and language. How changes in society influence language usage, including in journalism. Topics 7. Reception Theory. Discussion of how the receptive process of texts occurs. Topics 8. Investigative Reporting. Discussion of the development of investigative journalism approaches. Topics 9. The New Journalism. Effects of the new journalism on the writing and reading of texts of various genres. Topics 10. Gender in texts. Discussion of how texts are gender-inflected. Topics 11. Postcolonial theories, theory and application. Discussion of impact of post-colonial approaches in current writing. Topics 12. Historical memory as factor in contemporary issue resolvement. Discussion of how re-interpreations of the past condition current thinking. Topics 13. English-language broadcast of "Episodes". Discussion of approaches and preparation of stories.
