International Academic Conference held on October 18-23rd at the NaUKMA

The conference on the topic “Early Modern Ukraine: the culture of choice versus choice of culture” was devoted to the anniversary of NaUKMA Professor Natalia Yakovenko. Professor Yakovenko is an outstanding historian and researcher; her professionalism and her work made a significant contribution to the high professional level of NaUKMA.
Among the conference participants there were: NaUKMA President Serhiy Kvit, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Ukraine Henryk Litwin, President of the Italian Association of Ukrainian Studies, NaUKMA Honorary Professor Giovanna Brogi Bercoff, representative of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies and the Canadian Association of Ukrainian Studies Professor Natalia Pylypiuk, a famous human rights activist and vice-rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University Miroslav Marinovich.
In the opening day of the conference, Natalia Yakovenko presented her new book "Mirrors of Identity: Research from the history of ideas and ideas in Ukraine, 16th - early 18th centuries" (in Ukrainian). The book included selected articles on the formation of identities, peculiarities of the worldview, and the concept of "correct" power and noble duty in early-modern Ukraine.
