The role of education in implementing Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine by 2030 was discussed

On December, 7th the conference "The role of education in implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) till 2030 in Ukraine" took place at the NaUKMA.
The conference was held in partnership with the UNDP Office in Ukraine, and Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was represented by the Department of Ecology. The department has long promoted the principles of sustainable development in educational programs, and the professors of the department, as experts in this field, have repeatedly been involved in activities under the auspices of UNDP. Faculty staff and UNDP agreed on an event in which rectors and other representatives of Ukrainian universities could determine the mission of educational activities in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Besides, the president and administration of NaUKMA supported this idea and promoted its implementation.
One of the main topics of the conference was the analysis of the best practices for integrating the paradigm of the Sustainable Development Goals into educational programs.
Participants shared their vision of university role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, discussed what challenges and opportunities emerged in this area for Ukraine, talked about the role of scientific research and technological advances in the context of the SDGs and the importance of partnerships - between universities, government, financial institutions, business, international organizations - in achieving the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Having such conferences is essential for understanding and disseminating the goals of sustainable development in Ukraine, through education, through students, through young people who will create the future.
It is very important that Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is a part of this process.
