NaUKMA joined a powerful grant consortium for psychosocial support of women internally displaced due to the war in Ukraine

NaUKMA joined forces with the Boston Medical Center, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and International Charitable Foundation “Alliance for Public Health” in the framework of another extremely important for Ukraine three-year project under the subcontract research agreement with the Boston Medical Center «Preventing Mental Disorders Among Women lnternally Displaced by War in Ukraine: The SHAWL Trial» with financial support from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In cooperation with partners, NaUKMA Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, by carrying out interventions based on the available experience of using the transdiagnostic method of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) at the community level in Eastern European countries, and adapting this method to the conditions of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, will contribute to the reduction of symptoms of depression and anxiety among internally displaced women, preventing mental disorders in the future, which, according to many experts, constitute one of the main challenges for public health in Ukraine during the war.
